Safeguards

How we protect your data.

Company data comes with people, partners, and IP attached. Here's how we handle each: personal data, rights, any pending sale, and who owns what.

Our commitments

  • Personal data stays out
  • Any sale comes first
  • You keep ownership

The details

What each safeguard means in practice.

Biotech is our first dataset, so the examples below come from it. Each industry page lists its own safeguards.

Access and storage

In practice

  • We get read-only access to your systems, only with your approval.
  • AI labs receive prepared copies under contract, never access to your systems.

Personal data

Names and identifying details are replaced with consistent labels. In biotech, we don't take patient-level clinical trial data.

In practice

  • Same label every time, so records still read clearly.
  • Direct messages and HR records are never collected.
  • We review for details that could still identify someone.

Sales and transfers

Any sale of the company, a program, or its IP comes first. Data an acquirer needs stays out or waits until the sale closes.

In practice

  • We coordinate with whoever runs the sale.
  • Compound and program names can be relabeled if a sale requires it.

Rights review

Before anything moves, we review partner, licensor, CRO, and grant agreements. Data you can't license stays out.

In practice

  • Co-owned data requires the partner's agreement.
  • You review samples before any license.

Biosecurity (biotech)

Every biotech dataset is screened before it's offered. Work on dangerous pathogens or toxins is excluded.

In practice

  • Screening happens before licensing, not after.

Ownership

You keep ownership. Licensees get defined rights to use prepared data, not the data itself.

In practice

  • License terms define permitted uses and duration.
